Description

Espuma Carbon sealed edges is absorbent polyurethane foam dressing with uniformly distributed highly absorbing powder.
The outermost layer is breathable, bacteria-proof, virus-proof and waterproof polyurethane film that protects the wound from external contamination.

Espuma Carbon sealed edges has a carbon felt sandwiched between two layers of PU foam that is laminated to waterproof, bacteria proof and virus proof polyurethane film.

Espuma Carbon sealed edges has another perforated TPU layer as the wound contact layer and the edges of the dressing are sealed.
Upon absorption of exudates, the foam matrix forms a soft gel that allows easy removal of the dressing.

Intended Purpose:
ESPUMA Carbon sealed edges are indicated for chronic or acute wounds with moderate to heavy exudates such as:
• Pressure ulcers, venous leg ulcers and diabetic foot ulcers.
• Surgical wounds, donor sites, traumatic wounds, malignant wounds, graft sites.
• First and second degree burns.
• Suitable for use under compression bandaging.

Contraindications & Precautions

Precautions:
• The dressing should not be used on dry wounds, third degree burns, dry eschar, sinus tracts and wounds with excessive bleeding.
• Sterility of the dressing is guaranteed unless the pouch is damaged or opened prior to use.
• Do not cover the dressing with occlusive films or tapes, as they may reduce moisture vapor loss, which could impair the effectiveness of the dressing.
• The dressing should not be used in combination with oxidizing agents such as hydrogen peroxide or hypochlorite solution as these solutions may affect the structure and performance of the polyurethane foam.
• At the time of dressing change, if the dressing is adhered to the wound surface, saturate with normal saline.
• Consult a healthcare professional if there are signs of infection or sensitivity (allergic reaction).
• Reuse of the dressing may lead to increased risk of infection or cross contamination.

Instructions for Use

1. Cleanse the wound in accordance with local clinical protocols.
2. Select an appropriate dressing size that overlaps the wound margin by at least two centimeters.
3. Remove the sterile dressing from the package using aseptic technique.
4. Non-Adhesive variants can be cut to fit awkward areas. When used under compression therapy, the dressing must be cut to the size of the wound.
5. Place the dressing on the wound site.
6. Secondary film dressing or conforming bandage should be used to secure the dressing in place.
