Intended Purpose:
Elastic plaster is intended for:
• Reducing pro-inflammatory cytokines: resulting in anti-inflammatory effect. Thus, it reduces pain and promotes wound healing.
• Reducing oedema: Thus, it allows the wearing of normal shoes and participation in the normal daily activities, which improves the quality of life.
• Securing of the primary dressing.
• Supporting limbs and joints that need support.

Contraindications & Precautions

Contraindications:
Compression Therapy should be used with caution and under direct medical supervision in skin conditions.
Precautions:
When using a compression bandage, take the following precautions to ensure a smooth healing process:
1. Avoid tightening the bandage: If you make the bandage too tight, it will cut off the circulation to the compressed part.
2. Wrap it beyond the injury site. Wrapping the areas surrounding the injury helps to ensure that pressure is applied evenly.

Instructions for Use

For compression bandages in a normal-shaped leg, the circumference of the leg gradually increases from the ankle up toward the knee. An appropriate bandage applied to a normal-shaped leg with a spiral technique and with the same tension will produce graduated compression.
The frequency of reapplication of the bandage will depend on several factors including:
-Changes in the leg’s diameter as a result of edema reduction.
-The condition of the wound bed Levels of exudate Skin condition.
-The patient’s level of physical activity.
-The type of primary application, e.g. alginate, hydrocolloid, if one is used, may also necessitate a more frequent inspection and application change. It is possible to leave a bandage on a leg for up to 7 days when all these factors are appropriately addressed and suitable conditions are met.
When to Change the bandages:
– As directed by the health care professional.
– When they become dirty or wet.
